America Star Slat Board

America star

I know I am always talking about my amazing brother bringing me all this awesome wood!  He consistently brings me his leftover hardwood flooring scraps!  The best part is a lot of the time they are already cut into great lengths and some are even the same size!  Yay for me!  I am always finding new ways to use up this fun free wood.  Sometimes I paint the floor slats and other times I love the wood look.  For this project I decided to keep it the stained wood look.  I took 3 pieces that were 15″ tall and glued them together.  Next I cut a Star templet out of contact paper using my personal cutting machine.  I placed the star template on my wood slat boards and painted the star in with a deep red paint.  After it was dry I peeled off the contact paper template.  Then using my cutting machine again.  I cut the word America in a fancy font using white vinyl.  I adhered the America vinyl over the red star using transfer tape.  This was a fun little project!  I love how rustic it turned out.  I think it will make a wonderful addition to my other 4th of July décor.
