Rustic Lucky Friend Board
Rustic Lucky Friend Board
I saw a picture of this Four leaf clover and I tried doing some searches, but in the end all I found was this picture and one someone had taken it with their phone. I knew I wanted to recreate this some how. I loved how the words were inside the shamrock and how it was kind of rustic looking. I used my Silhouette machine ( It never gets turned off, poor machine). The silhouette machine has a really awesome trace feature that you can watch here silhouette. I knew this project was a possiblity with just using the picture. I really do try to give credit and support other crafters. But, I was desperate and my searches were turning up nothing. I cut the shamrock design onto some contact paper for this project.
First I grabbed 2 pieces out of my wood flooring pile (I love having scrap wood hanging around) I glued the 2 pieces together, to make this square board. Next I gave it a light sand. If you have a piece of raw wood, you probably could skip this step. The paint won’t stick to the finish on the wood flooring. After sanding, I painted a streaky base coat of green. I am going for rustic, so I wanted some of the wood finish showing through. After I let the base coat completely dry, I placed the contact paper shamrock template on the center of my board.
Next I applied a layer of white paint over the contact paper template. I used the same streaky style as I did for the base coat. Leaving some of green showing through. After the white paint is dry and set, peel off your contact paper template. After I had completely peeled off the template. I did have some places that bled through. I decided to leave it like it was, I am going for the “rustic look” I love how it turned out!

That is super cute and it looks really easy! I soooo need to get a silhouette machine… I’m afraid though I’d never come up for air as I’d be busy with all sorts of creative projects.
