How to refinish a small table
I found this table at a garage sale for $3.00 and knew it would be adorable next to my daughters bed. So I took it home and sanded it down. Sometimes I think people tend to think that furniture needs to be sanded completely down and I have found that primer and paint covers a lot.
Unless you are staining I don’t see the need to sand it all the way. I sand just to the point of scuffing it up and removing some of the dings/dents or flaws. If there are any really bad gouges in the furniture I will fill it with a furniture putty, let it dry then sand it so it will have a smooth finish.
See how the top of the table is not sanded all the way just scuffed up pretty good? I also touched up any marks with putty. Make sure once you are done sanding that all the dust is removed before painting.. I will have my husband blow off any additional dust with an air compressor. Sometimes I will take a cloth and wipe it down.
I thought about using spray paint to paint it but decided it would take too long so I just painted it with white semi gloss paint and I love the way it turned out! Doesn’t it look so cute next to my daughters bed?
