How to make a Bracket Board Clock
How to make a Bracket Board Clock
I always see this bracket or label design floating around on Pinterest or Facebook and I just love this shape on anything!!! If you haven’t noticed I do have a little obsession going on with clocks right now. I thought this would be a perfect combination so the idea for the bracket board clock was born!
I got to work searching for free wood and luckily there is a company close to where I live that has a free wood pile. They usually have stacks and stacks of pallets so I decided to run over there and grab a few. After I brought them home, we started cutting apart the pallets and then pulling the nails out of them. Then I ran down to my craft room and made a quick template on my Silhouette machine of the adorable bracket pattern. I lined up 6 of the boards and traced my template onto boards.

Using the skill saw I cut out the shape of each board. After all 6 pieces were cut and flipped onto what would be the back side I selected some of the leftover pieces of wood to use as a backing or brace to hold all of the pieces together. I used a brad nail gun to attach the 6 boards to the backing.
Now that my bracket board was sturdy and all in one piece I needed a way to be able to access the back of my clock. (So I could change the time and batteries). I used a large drill bit circle to drill out a hole in the center of my board. Next up was a quick sanding over my board to clean up the edges and smooth out any rough spots. Before I put on my stencil, I used a wood aging technique that you can read more about in this post. Using my Silhouette machine again I cut the design template out of contact paper. I placed the contact paper over the center area of my board and sponge painted the design in white paint. After my design was dry I peeled off the contact paper and glued on the clock in using hot glue.

I am in love with how it turned out. So much that I knew Avry needed a bracket board clock also. So I decided to whip up another one!

I love how it turned out!! I’d leave the clock off and stencil in our last name, though!

That is such a unique piece to add to your home. I love the way it looks with the white paint, but you could do so many different designs.
