Decorative Balls – girl style

Okay before I show you my next little project I want you to know that right now I am really into the fun little decorative balls. Not sure why maybe because they are easy to make and add so much color! PINK — yes every ball I have made lately is PINK. Why? Because I have been making them for my daughter Maeli’s bedroom. 3 daughters = alot of PINK.

First Ball – I found this entire canister of little foam beads at Tai Pan trading for $2.00 I made 2 balls and it didn’t even dent the canister. SO I decided I could always make more of these balls and spray paint them different colors! They don’t always have to be pink. I used a large foam ball and hot glued away. These balls came together really fast.

The next ball I wanted to try was one using sequins.. HA that was a joke! At first I tried tacky glue and just tried rolling the ball in the sequins but that made a mess and the glue started seeping into the ball so I would have to add more then it looked like a big glue glob. Frustrated I threw the first ball into the garbage and decided to try hot glue.. BLEH just all around frustrating. I did get one tiny ball made and gave up on the glitter idea. Any crafty girls out there that know how to make those sequins balls without it turning into a mess I would LOVE your advice!

Last but not least my favorite!! I tried to find a tutorial on this one because I know I saw these done somewhere I just cannot remember where I saw them. Crepe paper rosette ball. I learned how to make rosettes out of fabric and decided to try it using crepe paper. I made one rosette and decided it was very large and realized if I made smaller one’s I could probably glue them to a ball too! So I cut Crepe paper about 8 to 10 inches long and sliced it down the middle then went to town making rosettes and glueing them onto the ball. I already had the crete paper so this was a cheap craft. Although it was very time consuming it turned out darling!
I like to glue each rosette to a small piece of cardstock as I twist them to make it easier to twist and also so I don’t burn myself with the hot glue gun as I twist.

Note in the first picture is the Pomander ball I made a few weeks ago.

Go ahead give them a try! Let me know if you do as I would love to see your’s!
