DIY – Flakes and Flurries Winter Wood Sign
January is blue.. Literally I take down all the Christmas Decorations and I feel a little bit of a let down that all the beautiful décor is gone. Last year I made it a goal to decorate in winter, snowflake, snowmen and ice skating themed crafts to keep my spirits up. It helped a lot last year to have new colorful decorations to put up after the hype of Christmas was over. It’s been fun incorporating different hues of blue and aqua colors into my home during the month of January. I’ve loved watching all the Flakes and Flurries come down from the sky so that too helps me enjoy Winter…

Burlap Santa Christmas Special Delivery Sack
I’ve decided that you can never have too many Christmas decorations. This next inspiration for a Santa Special Christmas delivery sack came from Fynes Designs we love her blog and are always looking to see what fun ideas she comes up with. We fell in love with her Santa Special delivery sack the second we saw it! We put a little twist on our Santa Special Delivery sack and decided to make it not only smaller but out of a soft burlap. We also needed to be able to use what we had on hand and be able to have minimal sewing. Here are our instructions: First cut a Burlap strip…

Shaped Pallet Snowman for sale sign
I am still not ready for Valentines yet! I have been having fun dreaming up ways to decorate in January. Here is the latest decoration that I have made. I saw something with the cute saying “Snowmen for sale Cheap! Assembly required”. It was just a plain old board. I loved the idea of snowmen for sale. I came up with this fun way to display it. To create my fun snowman sign. I used 3-4 pallet boards, I laid the boards next to each other and then free handed a snowman shape on them. Next I cut the boards using a jigsaw (it’s ok if they are not perfect…

Glittered Wooden Ice Skates
I always feel a little sad after all my Christmas decor is down. I miss the twinkling lights and all of the fun bright colors. So, I want the transition after the holidays not to be so gloomy. I’ve created a beautiful display of snowflakes and ice skates in my home to still keep the winter theme throughout January. I’ve incorporated silver, aqua and winter white into my January. I’ve been looking for some real ice skates throughout the summer at garage sales and couldn’t ever find any. (but I’m not willing to give up yet) So I searched out a cute pattern of Ice skates and found this pattern…

Snowflake Charger
I love after Christmas shopping! Finding all those great deals items marked 75-90 percent off. While I was doing a little after Christmas shopping, I came across these darling ice blue chargers. They were marked 80 percent off, the minute I saw them I knew I could use them for a January themed decor. I snatched them up for .50 each! Next I came home and found a detailed snowflake image. I cut the snowflake out of white vinyl using my personal cutting machine. I centered and applied the snowflake to the charger. Last I hot glued a few silver jewels to make it pop! This project took about 10…

Vintage Winter Carnival Board
I have been feeling like my January décor is still lacking. I have been looking for ideas to add to my home décor. I came across a vintage winter carnival design online. I really liked the idea. The sign I found had a lot of yellow and red in it, I wasn’t really digging the color scheme it was done in. I decided to design my to own to fit with my blue and white winter décor for January. I used most of the same wording and added a few of my own ideas to the winter contest area of the board. I designed the wording using my personal cutting…

Reversible Snowman & Scarecrow board
My sweet neighbor had mentioned a while back she was interested in making a board similar to this one. She had posted a picture and asked if anyone wanted to help her make one. While I was deciding what I would be giving or making for my neighbors for Christmas, I knew that I must make my wonderful neighbor this fun snowman scarecrow board. I used a piece of primed bead board, Which I distressed first. Next I painted chipboard circles and cut a carrot nose shape out of chipboard. I painted the chipboard black and nose piece orange and then sanded the edges. I painted the top 1/4 of…

Vintage Sled
As I was surfing the pinterest wave this weekend I happened upon fynes designs and her amazing vintage sled. I have always wanted a vintage sled and I have hunted for years but just like fynes designs said if you want to pay $100-$300 you can have one. Seeing how that doesn’t quite fit in my budget I wanted to have one without the price tag that was attached. I was amazed at how easy her tutorial was to make your own and for only $10. I had already capped off my Christmas projects list because I have so many things that I want to make but how could I pass…

3-D Wood Snowflakes
3-D Wood Snowflakes Coming up with creative snowflake and snowman ideas can be difficult but I thought it would be fun to re create a 3-D version of a snowflake. These snowflakes are cut from 1/4″ pine (very thin) and the template I created isn’t the best because it is hand drawn. But it worked. I cut these on the scroll saw then painted white and glittered the edges in an iridescent white glitter. I have these spread all over my entry table and sofa table. You could also drill a hole in them and have them hang on fish wire from the ceiling. They would be cute hanging…

Snowflakes 5 cents sign and snowflake blocks
Snowflakes 5 cents sign and Snowflake Blocks Two Snowflake projects to finish off our Snowflake and Snowman Series! Both projects were very fast and easy! The snowflake blocks were done on left over scraps of wood from other projects – painted them a light blue/turquoise color, scuffed up the edges then used some old sponge snowflake stamps that my mother had given me to stamp on the snowflakes. While the paint was still wet I added some glitter onto each snowflake. The snowflake 5 cent sign was done on some of the hardwood flooring Krystal had left over. Painted this a cream color and scuffed up the surface before applying…
