Beach pillows
As I pulled out my summer decorations that I put out on my porch every summer I noticed that all of it was looking a bit shabby and tired! Everything was sun faded and my pillow covers were thin and torn. The sun really does a number on my outside decorations so I decided it was time to get rid of what I had and make some new fresh front porch decor. I had already made the beach stars and Seahorse boards. I am loving this beach trend and decided to keep that theme going.
I dug through my fabric collection and found a few pieces of fabric that fit the look I was going for. I always make envelope style pillow covers because I like the concept of just making a cover it saves on space and time. Learn how to make an envelope pillow cover here. I began by cutting my fabrics and sewing the envelope pillow covers. Next I designed and cut the shell and starfish template out of freezer paper (using my personal cutting machine). I measured and cut cream colored burlap a little larger than the template I had. I ironed the freezer paper onto the burlap, painted the starfish with gold spray paint and sprinkled some gold glitter on while it was still wet. I painted the word shells with white craft paint onto blue burlap and sprinkled clear glitter on while it was still wet. I let them dry then peeled the freezer paper template off. On each piece of burlap I pulled a few strings of the edges and trimmed them even to give them a frayed look. I hot glued the starfish burlap onto the coral polka dot pillow and then hot glued a teal sparkly trim around the edge.
For the shells word pillow I cut an additional piece of cream burlap a little larger than the blue burlap. I pulled a few strings from the edges on this one also. I glued the white burlap piece in the center of my blue striped pillow cover then I layered the blue shells burlap piece onto the cream burlap and glued it into place. I glued small gold bead strand around the edge of the shells wording. I also made a plain gray and white striped pillow cover to go with these pillows. I am loving this beach trend.

These are so creative and perfectly beachy cute. The colors are just right for a summer look. Nice!
