24th of July weekend

We were tired of being cooped up in the house with the kids last Weekend and it was too hot to play outside so Justin suggested that we drive up to Farmington Canyon to do a little hiking. My first question to Justin was “how long are we going to be in the car for?” (Just because I HATE driving anywhere after commuting everyday to work & back for the past 3 years and because I had never been up Farmington canyon) Justin told me about an hour each way.. UGH I really didn’t want to go after hearing that. We took a vote & the kids all decided that we go.

I seriously could have gone up to Idaho and seen my parents in the amount of time we were in that car and it wouldn’t have been soo bumpy! We left at 3:30 p.m. and arrived back home around 8:00 p.m. with only 1 hour of that actually hiking and looking around. I do have to say though it is always beautiful up in the mountains I just wish we lived closer to them. If we would have left earlier in the day we could have spent more time just enjoying the nature.

It was so quiet & peaceful. I let the kids & Justin walk ahead on the trail at one point while I sat on a rock for about 15 minutes. I loved listening to the wind swishing through the trees. It was therapeutic for me for that brief 15 minutes 😉
I missed having Maeli with us as I know she would have enjoyed the hike. I can’t wait to see her!

At the time I didn’t think it was worth all the driving but looking back at it I am glad we went because it isn’t very often we take the time with our kids to go out and enjoy nature.

Since we had Friday off of work for the holiday I took my sister’s kids overnight Friday night while her and her husband took an evening to enjoy themselves by getting a hotel & going to Lagoon. My nephews Chandler and Rowan are ages 3 & 1. I love these little guys but it was a quick reminder of how fast toddlers move & how much work they really are. I was exhausted but it was fun having them!
Kaden giving Chandler a ride on the Hog. (no comments about no helmets please) I made him go slow & I figured we never grew up wearing helmets so he would be fine to go around the block.

Eating popsicles. Sad thing is my litte nephew Rowan fell off of our swing in the back yard and ended up with a goose egg on his head.. I thought for sure Tiffany would think I was a horrible babysitter.

Jumping on the trampoline with a sprinkler underneath.. yes that is Kaden trying to flex his muscles for me!

Uncle Justin took the boys on a golf cart ride & also got out his gas powered car. I think they both loved that!

Overall it was a pretty good weekend!!

The scenery looks beautiful on your hike! Thanks again for taking the boys. Of course I didn't think you were a horrible babysitter just cause Rowan fell. Accidents happen, and my boys had SO much fun. Chandler always asks when he can go back to Aunt Avry's. 🙂

lol…so the kid doesn't fall off the bike (a good thing) but cracks his head as he falls off the swing?! Nice! lol Good thing is, he is little and I am sure that goose egg is not the first and certainly won't be the last of the wounds! lol
